FAQs

It teaches practical statecraft and security tactics: dividing cohesive enemy formations (bheda), consolidating scattered units, using intimidation, forcing gates, and assigning elephant-guard operations for treasury protection.

Alongside theology and ritual, the Agni Purana preserves applied knowledge of governance—military strategy, fort/gate operations, and treasury security—showing its wide-ranging, manual-like coverage of public administration.

By framing protection of the koṣa and orderly defense as dharmic governance, it implies that safeguarding public wealth and maintaining security are righteous duties of a ruler, supporting social order (dharma) and reducing harm.
