It functions as a phala-mantra/blessing within the Devayātrā context, invoking sky- and earth-abiding Devas as bestowers of longevity and declaring the intended ritual outcome: deva-siddhi (divine attainment).
It exemplifies the Purana’s ritual-technology layer—compact liturgical formulas that pair invocation (deities by cosmic location) with a specified result (longevity and divine fruition), typical of its wide-ranging manual-like coverage of rites.
By aligning the practitioner with the Devas as āyurdāḥ (givers of life), the verse frames the rite as merit-bearing (puṇya) and outcome-oriented—aimed at purification, protection, and a higher, deva-like spiritual fruition.
