FAQs

It gives an abhiṣeka-style benediction: invoking specific celestial classes (Gandharvas, Kurupās, Apsarases) to consecrate the recipient and confer victory and protection—used as a ritual formula within puja/abhisheka contexts.

It exemplifies the text’s practical ritual catalog—listing deity-classes and their functions (victory-bestowal, protection) as ready-to-use liturgical material, alongside the Purana’s many other domains (statecraft, medicine, architecture, poetics).

Consecration and protective invocation are meant to remove obstacles, strengthen auspiciousness (maṅgala), and align the practitioner with divine guardianship—supporting success (vijaya) in righteous undertakings.
