Related Themes: Agni Purana 117 (pūjā-vidhi subsections on abhiṣeka and pavitra)
It gives the operational detail for abhiṣeka: prepare four ritual vessels equipped with pavitras, add tila-flowers, fill with scented water (gandhodaka), and then perform the consecratory sprinkling.
It preserves a precise, step-based temple/household worship protocol (puja-vidhi), showing the text’s practical coverage of ritual technology alongside its broader teachings.
Using pavitra and fragrant water in abhiṣeka emphasizes śuddhi (purification) and saṃskāra (consecration), aiming to sanctify the deity/altar and the performer’s ritual state, thereby increasing ritual merit.
