FAQs

Ayurvedic therapeutics: it gives a stepwise dosage scheme (kramāt) for administering a powdered medicine (cūrṇa) to alleviate gulma, udara-roga, colic, and cough.

It exemplifies the Agni Purana’s inclusion of practical medical science—precise dosing and clinical indications—alongside its religious and literary subjects, showing its broad, encyclopedic scope.

Though primarily medical, the Purana’s framing treats health-preserving knowledge as dharmic welfare (loka-hita): maintaining the body supports righteous living, ritual capacity, and disciplined spiritual practice.
