El sabio no debe insultar a quienes carecen de belleza, riqueza o linaje. Y estando impuro, no debe mirar a una pareja entregada al juego amoroso, ni fijar la vista en la multitud de luminarias del cielo.
Skanda
Tirtha: Kāśī
Type: kshetra
Scene: A learned pilgrim stops a companion from mocking a poor, plain-looking devotee near a ghat; later, during a period of impurity, the pilgrim turns away from an erotic scene and lowers his gaze from the starry sky, choosing restraint and prayer.
Dharma includes compassion and restraint: do not shame the disadvantaged, and maintain purity-aware decorum in what one chooses to see.
The instruction is situated in Kāśīkhaṇḍa’s dharma-education, associated with life in sacred Kāśī.
It implies observance of śauca (purity rules): when aśuci, avoid certain sights/activities considered improper for that state.
