Transliteration

purā kaliṃgaviṣaye dvijo lavaṇavikrayī | saṃdhyāsnānavihīnaśca vedākṣaravivarjitaḥ

Translation

Antaño, en la región de Kaliṅga, vivía un dos veces nacido que se ganaba la vida vendiendo sal. Carecía del culto diario de la sandhyā y del baño ritual, y había abandonado incluso la recitación de las sílabas védicas.
