Pārthiva-pratimā Pūjā-vidhāna — Procedure for Worship of an Earthen Icon
Suta Goswami (narrating traditional ritual/time-determination rules to the sages of Naimisharanya)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Offering: dipa
It teaches that devotion must be joined with dharma—worship is strengthened when performed at the properly ascertained sacred time (tithi), aligning the devotee’s act with cosmic order.
Linga-puja and vrata observances are traditionally tied to tithi; this verse gives a practical rule—accept the tithi that persists at sunrise or is present at midday—so Saguna Shiva worship is performed at the ritually valid time.
It suggests careful tithi-selection for vrata/puja: prioritize the udayavyāpinī tithi (spanning sunrise) and also accept the tithi present at midday when scheduling worship, japa, and offerings.
