Brahma
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Mantra: jaya deva mahādeva praṇatārtivibhaṃjana | īdṛśeṣvaparādheṣu ko 'nyastvattaḥ prasīdati
Type: stotra
Role: liberating
Offering: pushpa
The verse centers on anugraha (Śiva’s saving grace): even when faults are committed, sincere pranati (humble surrender) turns the devotee toward the only refuge—Pati (Śiva)—who removes inner affliction and restores the soul’s right orientation toward liberation.
By addressing Śiva as ‘Mahādeva’ and ‘remover of devotees’ distress,’ the verse supports Saguna worship—approaching the compassionate Lord through accessible forms such as the Śiva-liṅga, prayer, and confession, trusting that His mercy purifies offenses and renews devotion.
A practical takeaway is aparādha-kṣamā-prārthanā (seeking forgiveness) with bhakti: offer water and bhasma/tripuṇḍra to the liṅga, repeat the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) with repentance, and conclude with a prayer for Śiva’s prasāda (grace).
