Los oprimen con cargas excesivas y aun los obligan a llevar lo que no pueden soportar. Uncen a los que no han sido alimentados y no liberan a los que están sujetos y atados.
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pasha
Shiva Form: Rudra
Significance: Condemns exploitation and bondage; aligns Śaiva dharma with release (mokṣa) by opposing acts that bind others—mirroring the need to cut one’s own pāśa.
Role: liberating
The verse condemns cruelty—oppressing beings with unbearable work, withholding food, and keeping them bound—showing how such adharma strengthens pāśa (bondage) and leads to karmic suffering; Shaiva Siddhanta emphasizes compassion and right conduct as supports for Shiva’s grace.
Linga-worship is not merely ritual; it must be aligned with dharma. Devotion to Saguna Shiva is fulfilled through Shiva-like qualities—dayā (compassion) and restraint from harm—otherwise worship becomes hollow and does not mature into purification fit for Shiva’s anugraha (grace).
Practice ahimsa and compassionate service as a vrata alongside Shiva worship—offer food (anna-dāna), avoid exploiting dependents, and pair daily japa of the Panchakshara ("Om Namaḥ Śivāya") with a conscious vow to release others from unnecessary restraint and hardship.
