Mitra and Varuṇa
Tattva Level: pashu
Role: teaching
It elevates core sādhana-virtues—humility (praśraya), self-restraint (dama), and truth (satya)—as inner purifiers that make higher powers favorable, aligning the bound soul (paśu) toward Shiva’s grace in a Shaiva Siddhanta sense.
Linga-worship is not only external ritual; it is supported by inner conduct. Truthfulness, restraint, and reverence make pūjā fruitful, turning devotion to Saguna Shiva into a disciplined, grace-attracting practice.
A practical takeaway is satya-vrata (commitment to truth), dama (sense-control), and humble demeanor as daily vows alongside japa of “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” strengthening eligibility for deeper worship and meditation.
