Manvantarāṇukīrtana
Enumeration of the Manvantaras and Manus
Suta Goswami (traditional Purāṇic colophon concluding the chapter narration)
This is a concluding colophon that seals the teaching: it frames cosmic time (Manvantaras) as ordered under Śiva’s sovereignty, reminding the listener that devotion to Pati (Śiva) transcends cyclical ages.
By marking the completion of a chapter on cosmic cycles, it implicitly points to the Purāṇic method: contemplate changing creation while taking refuge in Saguna Śiva (often worshiped as the Liṅga), the steady Lord beyond time.
As a chapter-closure, it suggests paṭha-śravaṇa (recitation and listening) with remembrance of Śiva—ending study with a brief japa of the Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” and a moment of dhyāna on Śiva as the Lord of time.
