Para quien es atravesado sin cesar por agujas como de color de fuego, el dolor que en él nace—mayor aún es el sufrimiento de quien debe permanecer inmóvil en esa misma condición.
Suta Goswami (narrating the Uma-samhita discourse in the Shiva Purana)
Tattva Level: pashu
It stresses that suffering is not only the immediate pain of karmic affliction but becomes heavier when the soul (paśu) is forced to remain bound in that state; liberation comes by turning to Pati (Shiva) through right knowledge and devotion.
By highlighting the agony of bondage, the verse supports the Shaiva Siddhanta emphasis on seeking Shiva’s grace through Saguna worship—Linga-puja, mantra, and devotion—which purify the pasha (bond) and orient the aspirant toward liberation.
A practical takeaway is steady japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) with Linga-dhyana, supported by Shaiva disciplines like vibhuti (tripundra) and Rudraksha, to reduce attachment and endure pain with Shiva-centered awareness.
