It teaches that severe karmic consequences arise from violating foundational dharma—reverence toward mother, father, and guru—because such disrespect hardens the heart and obstructs Shiva-anugraha (grace) needed for purification and liberation.
Linga worship in the Shiva Purana is not merely ritual; it requires inner discipline and humility. Disrespect to parents and guru contradicts the bhakti and śuddhi (purity) expected of a devotee approaching Saguna Shiva through the Linga.
The implied practice is prāyaścitta through repentance, respectful service to parents and guru, and steady Shaiva japa such as the Panchakshara mantra “Om Namah Shivaya,” undertaken with humility and moral restraint.
