Protocol of Tapas, Mantra-Japa, and Śiva-Dhyāna
तदेतद्बह्वपि ज्ञेयं नूनमल्पं न संशयः । प्रारब्धस्याथ वा दोषो नूनं ज्ञेयो विशेषतः
tadetadbahvapi jñeyaṃ nūnamalpaṃ na saṃśayaḥ | prārabdhasyātha vā doṣo nūnaṃ jñeyo viśeṣataḥ
Aunque aquí se enseña mucho, lo que en verdad se capta es, sin duda, sólo un poco. O bien, entiéndase que el obstáculo particular reside en el prārabdha (karma ya iniciado), que vela de modo específico la plena comprensión.

Sthala Purana: Not jyotirliṅga-specific; it is a reflective aside on limited assimilation of teaching due to veiling factors, especially prārabdha/karmic obstruction.
Significance: Encourages humility and perseverance: incomplete understanding is attributed to karmic veiling (pāśa), prompting continued śravaṇa-manana and reliance on Śiva’s grace.

It highlights that spiritual knowledge may be vast, yet realization can remain partial because prārabdha-karma still operates; Shaiva Siddhanta frames liberation as Shiva’s grace removing veiling impurities while karma exhausts.
When prārabdha limits understanding, Saguna Shiva worship—especially Linga-puja—serves as a grace-filled support that steadies devotion and purifies the mind, making higher insight into Shiva’s nature more accessible.
Steady japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) with disciplined Linga worship and Tripundra (bhasma) observance is implied as a practical means to lessen karmic obstruction and deepen comprehension.
