शिवस्तुतिवर्णनम् (Śiva-stuti-varṇanam) — “Description of Hymns in Praise of Śiva”
A devotee/warrior addressing Lord Shiva in praise (within Suta Goswami’s narration in the Rudrasaṃhitā)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadyojāta
Significance: By naming Śiva as the impeller of Prakṛti, the verse frames bondage (pāśa) as rooted in prakṛti/māyā’s evolutes, yet under Śiva’s governance—encouraging surrender so that the same cosmic process becomes a path to liberation through grace.
Type: stotra
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: creative
Offering: pushpa
Cosmic Event: cosmogenesis implied: activation of prakṛti leading to manifestation of forms
It declares Shiva as the supreme Pati: the one who activates Prakriti and yet transcends it, capable of manifesting as all forms—inviting total surrender and all-pervasive remembrance leading toward liberation.
Calling Shiva “sarvavigraha” supports Saguna worship—Shiva can be adored in any sacred form, including the Linga—while also implying the formless truth behind every form, harmonizing Nirguna and Saguna devotion.
Practice all-directional salutation (sarvataḥ-namaskāra) with japa of the Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” contemplating Shiva as the inner ruler who pervades every form and place.
