Tripura Dīkṣā: Prescriptive Procedure
Chapter on the Ordinance of Initiation
Sūta Gosvāmin (narrating the Yuddhakhaṇḍa account to the sages of Naimiṣāraṇya)
Tattva Level: pasha
Shiva Form: Īśāna
It emphasizes Śiva as Devadeva (Pati), whose ordinance governs even Viṣṇu; spiritually, it teaches surrender to Śiva’s supreme will and the inwardization of divine presence within the heart.
The verse supports Saguna worship by affirming Śiva’s personal sovereignty (Devadeva) whose command shapes cosmic events; Linga-worship expresses this same truth—Śiva as the supreme Lord who can place divine grace and awareness within the devotee’s heart.
A practical takeaway is hṛdaya-smaraṇa (heart-centered remembrance): meditate on Śiva as Devadeva while repeating the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), praying that the Lord’s ordinance makes the mind turn inward and become receptive to grace.
