अध्याय १७ — देवपलायनं, विष्णोः प्रतियुद्धं, जलंधरक्रोधः
Devas’ Rout, Viṣṇu’s Counterattack, and Jalandhara’s Wrath
आगतं तस्य तं बाणं दृष्ट्वा दैत्यो महाबलः । छित्त्वा बाणेन विष्णुं च जघान हृदये द्रुतम्
āgataṃ tasya taṃ bāṇaṃ dṛṣṭvā daityo mahābalaḥ | chittvā bāṇena viṣṇuṃ ca jaghāna hṛdaye drutam
Al ver que aquella flecha venía hacia él, el poderosísimo Daitya la cercenó al instante con su propio dardo y, velozmente, hirió a Viṣṇu en el corazón. Desde la perspectiva del Śaiva Siddhānta, este episodio subraya que todas las potencias cósmicas, en el campo de batalla, quedan subordinadas a la voluntad ordenadora suprema de Śiva: aun la proeza de Viṣṇu se muestra dependiente, y el drama del conflicto sirve al despliegue del gobierno soberano (Pati) de Śiva sobre todos los seres y fuerzas.
