(Sandhyā-caritra-varṇanam) — “Narration of Sandhyā’s Austerity and Encounter with Śiva”
Sati (Dakshayani)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Shakti Form: Satī
Role: teaching
It expresses steadfast inner resolve aligned with cosmic order: Sati accepts what is renowned across the three worlds and chooses a single, focused boon—symbolizing one-pointed bhakti and surrender to divine will (Shiva’s grace) rather than scattered desires.
Sati’s “one boon” reflects exclusive devotion to Shiva as the supreme Pati. In Shaiva practice, this becomes the model of single-minded worship—approaching Saguna Shiva (and the Linga as His sacred presence) with unwavering intent rather than many worldly petitions.
The takeaway is ekāgratā (one-pointedness): daily japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) with a single sankalpa, supported by simple Shaiva observances like Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) and a steady bhakti mindset.
