Sūta Gosvāmin (narrating to the sages at Naimiṣāraṇya)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Shakti Form: Satī
Role: liberating
It highlights Śiva’s anugraha (saving grace): even when life and dignity are lost through ego and offense, the Lord’s compassionate glance can restore prāṇa and reawaken the soul toward humility and dharma.
The verse portrays Saguna Śiva—Śambhu who actively bestows mercy—showing that Linga-worship is not mere ritual but a living relationship where the devotee seeks the Lord’s sanctifying presence and protection.
Contemplate Śiva’s ‘sad-dṛṣṭi’ during japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), praying for inner revival; on Mahāśivarātri, combine japa with Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) and a vow of humility to dissolve ego.
