(Kāmaśāpānugraha) — “The Curse and Grace Concerning Kāma”

FAQs

The verse highlights niyama and saṃyama—restraining sense-born disturbance and renouncing an unrighteous impulse—showing that inner mastery is a prerequisite for dharma and for progressing toward Shiva-realization (Pati) beyond the bonds (pāśa) of desire.

Though not explicitly about the Liṅga, it supports Saguna Shiva worship by stressing purity of conduct and control of the senses—foundational disciplines for mantra-japa, pūjā, and approaching Shiva as the compassionate Lord who frees the soul from passion-driven bondage.

A practical takeaway is daily japa with breath-awareness to restrain aindriyaka vikāra—especially Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya)—along with simple self-discipline (sense-restraint) before worship.
