Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Significance: General: naivedya and namaskāra to Gaṇeśa as a maṅgala-pūrvaka act supporting successful completion of Śiva-vrata/pūjā.
Role: nurturing
Offering: naivedya
It teaches that devotional worship begins with reverent offering (naivedya) and humility (namaskāra), seeking the removal of obstacles through Gaṇeśa so that one’s Shaiva sādhanā proceeds without hindrance.
In Purāṇic Shaiva practice, Gaṇeśa is invoked at the start of worship to clear impediments; this prepares the devotee for focused Saguna worship of Shiva—often culminating in Liṅga-pūjā with mantra, offerings, and contemplation.
Offer simple, sattvic naivedya (fruits and sweets) with devotion, then perform Gaṇeśa-namaskāra as a preliminary rite before continuing with Shiva worship (mantra-japa, archana, or dhyāna).
