Description of Śiva Meditation and Worship
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Type: stotra
Role: teaching
The verse presents Saguna Śiva as compassion made visible—serene, pure, and approachable—so the bound soul (paśu) can steady the mind in devotion and receive grace that loosens bondage (pāśa) and leads toward liberation under the Lord (Pati).
While the Liṅga signifies Śiva’s transcendent reality, this verse emphasizes meditating on Śiva’s manifest form (vigraha) with varada and abhaya mudrā—supporting personal devotion (bhakti) and dhyāna that culminate in realizing the Liṅga’s deeper, formless truth.
Use dhyāna in pūjā: visualize Śiva as crystal-pure and calm, contemplate his varada-abhaya hands, and repeat the Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” to cultivate fearlessness, surrender, and inner purity.
