Description of Rama and Lakshmana; Alliance Narrative to Sita
विचित्य वनदुर्गाणि गिरिप्रस्रवणानि च।अनासाद्य पदं देव्याः प्राणांस्त्यक्तुं समुद्यताः।।।।
vicitya vanadurgāṇi giriprasravaṇāni ca | anāsādya padaṃ devyāḥ prāṇāṃs tyaktuṃ samudyatāḥ ||
Tras registrar los baluartes del bosque, difíciles de penetrar, y también los arroyos de las montañas, y sin hallar el paradero de la reina, estábamos dispuestos a entregar la vida.
"We decided to give up our lives since we were unable to see the feet of the queen (Sita) even after searching the forest fortresses and the (banks of) mountain streams.
Dharma is relentless effort in service of the innocent; the verse highlights exhaustive searching as a moral obligation toward Sītā and toward Rāma’s cause.
Hanumān describes the breadth of the search—forests and mountain waters—followed by despair when no trace of Sītā was found.
Utsāha (zeal) and sevā-bhāva (spirit of service): they explored difficult terrain for Sītā’s sake.
