Sita’s Lament and Resolve under Threat
नैवास्ति दोषो मम नूनमत्र वध्याहमस्याप्रियदर्शनस्य।भावं न चास्याहमनुप्रदातु मलं द्विजो मन्त्रमिवाद्विजाय।।5.28.5।।
naivāsti doṣo mama nūnam atra vadhyāham asyāpriyadarśanasya | bhāvaṃ na cāsyāham anupradātuṃ malaṃ dvijo mantram ivādvijāya ||5.28.5||
Ciertamente no hay culpa en mí si muero aquí; estoy destinada a ser asesinada por este ser de aspecto repugnante. No es correcto entregarle mi corazón, tal como un brahmán no impartiría un mantra sagrado a quien no es digno.
"I will not be blamed if I commit suicide now.I stand condemned to death in the hands of this ugly Ravana. I cannot bestow my affection on him or surender to his desire like a brahmin would not like to impart Vedic knowledge to a non-brahmin. (Better die of my own accord than be killed by a sinful ogre).
