Trishanku’s Bodily Ascent and the New Constellations
स्वर्गोऽस्तु सशरीरस्य त्रिशङ्कोरस्य शाश्वत:।नक्षत्राणि च सर्वाणि मामकानि ध्रुवाण्यथ।।।।यावल्लोका धरिष्यन्ति तिष्ठन्त्वेतानि सर्वश:।मत्कृतानि सुरा स्सर्वे तदनुज्ञातुमर्हथ।।।।
svargo ’stu saśarīrasya triśaṅkor asya śāśvataḥ |
nakṣatrāṇi ca sarvāṇi māmakāni dhruvāṇy atha ||
yāval lokā dhariṣyanti tiṣṭhantv etāni sarvaśaḥ |
matkṛtāni surāḥ sarve tad anujñātum arhatha || 1.60.28-29 ||
Sea para Triśaṅku, en su propio cuerpo, un cielo eterno. Y que todas estas estrellas creadas por mí permanezcan firmes; mientras los mundos perduren, que se mantengan por doquier. Oh dioses, debéis otorgar vuestro consentimiento a lo que he creado.
Let this heaven be an eternal abode for Trisanku in his physical form! All these stars created by me shall endure as long as the worlds survive. O gods! it behoves of you to accord consent to this".
Dharma here is framed as satya to one’s vow coupled with seeking rightful sanction—Viśvāmitra asks the devas to acknowledge what he has brought into being rather than acting in secrecy.
Viśvāmitra declares the establishment of a distinct heaven for Triśaṅku and the permanence of newly created stars, requesting divine approval.
Uncompromising commitment to truth (keeping a promise) backed by ascetic potency (tapas).
