Description of the Pilgrimage to the Sacred Tīrthas
Kurukṣetra-yātrā-krama
Suta (narrating a Tirtha-Mahatmya discourse)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: adbhuta
Secondary Rasa: bhakti
It teaches that a specific tirtha-act—reaching the Kiṃduśūka well and performing tiladāna (gift of sesame)—generates great merit culminating in supreme attainment and, ultimately, the possibility of moksha.
Though framed as a tirtha-ritual, it reflects bhakti-oriented dharma: approaching a sacred site with faith and making an offering as an act of reverence, which purifies the mind and supports liberation.
It highlights kalpa-style ritual practice (proper sacred giving/dāna) including the specified measure (prastha) for tiladāna, a practical detail typical of dharma and tirtha-vidhi instructions.
