Description of the Pilgrimage to the Sacred Tīrthas
Kurukṣetra-yātrā-krama
Narada (teaching in the Uttara-Bhaga tirtha-mahatmya dialogue)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: bhakti
It teaches that tirtha-snana (bathing at a holy place) combined with proper tirtha-vihara (reverent sojourn) yields comprehensive well-being, and that bathing at Durgā-tīrtha specifically protects one from durgati (an unfortunate or sinful end).
By praising Durgā-tīrtha, the verse frames pilgrimage as a devotional act where approaching the deity through sacred geography and ritual bathing becomes a means of grace and moral protection.
Ritual practice (kalpa-oriented conduct) is implied: correct performance of snāna at a designated tīrtha and disciplined behavior during the pilgrimage (vihāra) are presented as the actionable method to obtain the stated results.
