FAQs

It presents tīrtha-snānā (bathing at consecrated waters) as a recognized prāyaścitta: contact with sanctified waters and the merit of the place are said to loosen the bonds of pāpa (sin) and restore ritual-spiritual purity.

Though the verse focuses on tīrtha practice, the implied bhakti framework is reverential approach—going to sacred places connected with revered sages/deities and performing snāna with faith (śraddhā), which supports a devotional life oriented toward purification.

It aligns with Kalpa (ritual discipline): tīrtha-snānā as an expiatory act (prāyaścitta) and a dharmic observance, including the idea that specific named tīrthas have specific ritual-phala (results).
