Puruṣottama-māhātmya
The Greatness of Puruṣottama Kṣetra
Sūta (narrating the Purāṇic dialogue; teaching the māhātmya as received from sages)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: shanta
It declares kṣetra-vāsa (dwelling in a sacred tīrtha) at Śrī Puruṣottama in Utkala as life-fulfilling, because constant proximity to the Lord’s abode naturally supports puṇya, dharma, and devotion.
By praising residence in Puruṣottama-kṣetra, the verse points to steady, daily remembrance and worship of Viṣṇu (Puruṣottama) as a practical bhakti-support—devotion becomes continuous rather than occasional.
No specific Vedāṅga (like Vyākaraṇa or Jyotiṣa) is taught in this verse; the practical takeaway is tīrtha-dharma—kṣetra-vāsa as a sādhana that strengthens nitya-karma, tīrtha-sevā, and Viṣṇu-upāsanā.
