FAQs

It presents restraint (especially abstaining from food) as a visible sign of commitment to Dharma, implying that true righteousness is an ‘ornament’ that guides one’s conduct even in urgent situations.

Though not naming Vishnu directly, it supports a core bhakti virtue—self-control—because devotional life in the Narada Purana repeatedly emphasizes purity of intention, disciplined senses, and dharmic behavior as the foundation for worship and pilgrimage merit.

The verse mainly highlights vrata-practice (discipline/fasting) rather than a specific Vedanga; practically, it reflects dharma-śāstra style guidance on niyama (restraint) that often accompanies tirtha and ritual observances.
