Adhyaya 92 — Devi’s Assurance of Protection and the Fruits of Reciting the Devi Mahatmyam
यत्रैतत् पठ्यते सम्यङ्नित्यमायतने मम ।
सदा न तद्विमोक्ष्यामि सान्निध्यं तत्र मे स्थितम् ॥
yatraitat paṭhyate samyaṅ nityam āyatane mama |
sadā na tad vimokṣyāmi sāṃnidhyaṃ tatra me sthitam ||
Dondequiera que esto sea recitado correctamente cada día en mi santuario, jamás abandonaré ese lugar; mi presencia permanece allí.
Sacred space is maintained by sacred practice: the text ties the sanctity of a shrine to regular, correct, and devoted recitation—an ethic of caretaking rather than mere belief.
Dharma: it prescribes a sustaining practice for āyatana (worship-space), reflecting Purāṇic guidance for lived religion.
‘Āyatana’ can be read as the inner shrine (hṛdaya). Proper daily recitation establishes ‘sāṃnidhya’—a stable awareness of the Devī—so the divine is not elsewhere but continuously present in consciousness.
