Adhyaya 63 — The Birth of Svarocis and the Rescue of Manoramā: The Astra-Heart and the Healing of Curses
किन्त्वेषा मे सखी सा च मत्कृते दुःखपीडिते ।
अतो नाभिलषे भोगान् भोक्तुमेतेन वै समम् ॥
kintv eṣā me sakhī sā ca mat-kṛte duḥkha-pīḍite | ato nābhilaṣe bhogān bhoktum etena vai samam ||
«Pero ella es mi amiga, y está afligida por mi causa. Por ello no deseo gozar de placeres—gozándolos con él (como esposo)—mientras ella sufre».

Enjoyment (bhoga) is ethically evaluated in relation to others’ suffering; dharma commends empathy and restraint—one should not pursue personal happiness built upon another’s pain.
Ācāra-oriented narrative ethics; not pancalakṣaṇa.
The ‘friend in pain’ can symbolize an unintegrated part of the self; refusing pleasure until reconciliation suggests inner wholeness as a prerequisite for rightful enjoyment.
