Adhyaya 29 — Alarka’s Inquiry and Madalasa’s Teaching on Householder Dharma (Gārhasthya), Vaiśvadeva, and Atithi Hospitality

मुखं चास्य निरीक्षन्ते अपि नो दास्यतीति वै ॥
gṛhastham upajīvanti tatas tṛptiṃ prayānti ca | mukhaṃ cāsya nirīkṣante api no dāsyatīti vai ||

The verse emphasizes the moral pressure on the gṛhastha: many lives hinge on his generosity. Withholding is not merely private miserliness but a social and spiritual failure.
Practical dharma teaching; outside the five-lakṣaṇa core.
‘Watching the face’ suggests that dharma is enacted in small moments of choice: the inner disposition to give (or refuse) becomes the visible axis upon which others’ welfare turns.
