स्प्रष्ट रा जसहस्राणि तेजसाप्रतिमानि वै | समरे नाभ्यवर्तन्त वेलामिव महार्णव:,जैसे महासागर तट सीमाको नहीं लाँघ पाता, उसी प्रकार सहस्रों अप्रतिम तेजवाले राजा जिस वीरको वशीभूत करनेके लिये आगे न बढ़ सके, वही तरुण अर्जुन इस समय राजा विराटकी कन्याओंको नाचना सिखा रहा है और हीजड़ेके वेषमें छिपकर उन कन्याओंकी सेवा करता है
spraṣṭrājasahasrāṇi tejasāpratimāni vai | samare nābhyavartanta velām iva mahārṇavaḥ ||
Vaiśampāyana dijo: En la batalla, miles de reyes de esplendor incomparable no pudieron avanzar contra aquel héroe—como el gran océano no puede rebasar su orilla. Y, sin embargo, ese mismo Arjuna, aún joven, enseña ahora a danzar a las hijas del rey Virāṭa, oculto bajo el disfraz de un eunuco y sirviendo a aquellas princesas.
