Allí se alza la ermita del sabio Vasiṣṭha, célebre en los tres mundos. Quien pase allí siquiera una sola noche obtiene, se dice, el mérito de haber donado mil vacas.
घुलस्त्य उवाच
The verse teaches that proximity to sanctified spaces and great sages is a potent aid to dharma: even a brief, disciplined stay in a revered hermitage is portrayed as yielding immense spiritual merit, comparable to major acts of charity like go-dāna.
The speaker points out Vasiṣṭha’s famed hermitage and describes its extraordinary merit: spending a single night there grants the fruit of donating a thousand cows, encouraging the listener toward pilgrimage and reverent conduct.
