Sustained purity and disciplined living (saṁyama and niyama) at a sacred place can yield the same spiritual merit as performing many elaborate sacrifices, culminating in the highest posthumous attainment described here—Brahmaloka.
The speaker, Ghūlastya, is praising the sanctity of Puṣkara as a tīrtha, stating that a twelve-year residence there with strict observances grants the merit of all yajñas and leads the practitioner to Brahmā’s world.
