Damayantī’s Message and the Dispatch of Brahmin Envoys
स त्वमातिष्ठ योगं त॑ येन शीघ्रा हया मम । भवेयुरश्वाध्यक्षोडसि वेतनं ते शतं शतम्,अतः तुम ऐसा उपाय करो, जिससे मेरे घोड़े शीघ्रगामी हो जायँ। आजसे तुम हमारे अश्वाध्यक्ष हो। दस हजार मुद्राएँ तुम्हारा वार्षिक वेतन है
sa tvam ātiṣṭha yogaṃ ta yena śīghrā hayā mama | bhaveyur aśvādhyakṣo 'si vetanaṃ te śataṃ śatam ||
Dijo Ṛtuparṇa: «Por tanto, toma ese arte y ese método por los cuales mis caballos se vuelvan veloces. Desde hoy eres mi superintendente de caballos; tu paga será cien por cien».
ऋचतुपर्ण उवाच
Competence (yoga as practical skill) is treated as a valued form of dharma in service: a ruler should recognize expertise and compensate it fairly, while the servant should apply knowledge for the common good.
King R̥tupārṇa asks the other person to employ a technique to make his horses faster and appoints him as aśvādhyakṣa (stable superintendent), promising a substantial wage.
