श्रुत्वा शब्दं तु यं कज्चिदुन्मुखा सुतशड्कया । सावित्रीसहितो<भ्येति सत्यवानित्यभाषताम्,जो कोई भी शब्द कानमें पड़ता, उसीको सुनकर वे अपने पुत्रके आनेकी आशंकासे उत्सुक हो उठते और परस्पर कहने लगते कि “सावित्रीके साथ सत्यवान् आ रहा है!
śrutvā śabdaṃ tu yaṃ kaścid unmukhāḥ sutaśaṅkayā | sāvitrīsahito ’bhyeti satyavān iti cābhāṣatām ||
Al oír cualquier sonido, al instante alzaban la vista, encendidos por la esperanza ansiosa de que su hijo hubiera llegado. Y se decían el uno al otro: «¡Satyavān viene, acompañado de Sāvitrī!»
