Educational Q&A

The verse highlights dharmic conduct through pilgrimage and disciplined movement within social order: Sāvitrī’s visiting of tīrthas and āśramas reflects reverence for sacred spaces and sages, while her return to her father’s home—accompanied by ministers—signals propriety, accountability, and the integration of personal devotion with familial and royal responsibilities.

Markaṇḍeya narrates that Sāvitrī, after touring sacred pilgrimage sites and hermitages, arrives back at her father’s residence, escorted by ministers. The line functions as a narrative bridge, marking the completion of her circuit and her re-entry into the royal household setting.
