विदेहराजो जनक: सीता तस्यात्मजा विभो | यां चकार स्वयं त्वष्टा रामस्य महिषीं प्रियाम्‌,राजन! विदेहदेशके राजा जनककी एक पुत्री थी, जिसका नाम था सीता। उसे स्वयं विधाताने ही भगवान्‌ श्रीरामकी प्यारी रानी होनेके लिये रचा था

videharājo janakaḥ sītā tasyātmajā vibho | yāṃ cakāra svayaṃ tvaṣṭā rāmasya mahiṣīṃ priyām |

Dijo Mārkaṇḍeya: Oh poderoso, el rey de Videha fue Janaka, y Sītā era su hija. El divino Creador la modeló por sí mismo para que fuese la amada reina principal de Rāma.
