Educational Q&A

Acts of charity (dāna) gain protective merit only when supported by righteous means. Wealth obtained through injustice contaminates the act, so the giver is not safeguarded from grave fear or consequences.

In Vyāsa’s instruction within the Vana Parva discourse, he states a moral principle: dharmic acts performed using unrighteously acquired wealth fail to provide the intended spiritual or protective benefit to the performer.
