मातापितृपूजन-प्रधानधर्मः (Primacy of Filial Service) — Mārkaṇḍeya’s Account of the Vyādha’s Instruction
तेषु क्रोधाग्निदग्धेषु तदा भरतसत्तम,भरतश्रेष्ठी] जब सभी राजकुमार धुन्धुकी क्रोधाग्निसे दग्ध हो गये, तब महातेजस्वी राजा कुवलाश्वने दूसरे कुम्भकर्णके- समान जगे हुए उस महाकाय दानवपर आक्रमण किया
teṣu krodhāgnidagdheṣu tadā bharatasattama
Mārkaṇḍeya dijo: «Cuando aquellos príncipes fueron consumidos por el fuego de la ira, oh el mejor de los Bhāratas, el poderoso rey Kuvalāśva lanzó entonces su asalto contra aquel demonio colosal—despierto como un segundo Kumbhakarṇa».
मार्कण्डेय उवाच
The verse highlights the destructive power of uncontrolled anger—likened to a consuming fire—and contrasts it with the king’s decisive, duty-bound action. Ethically, it warns that wrath can ruin even the capable, while dharmic leadership requires courage guided by purpose rather than rage.
After the princes are overwhelmed—described as ‘burnt by the fire of anger’—the mighty King Kuvalāśva advances to attack a gigantic demon, portrayed as being awake like a second Kumbhakarṇa.
