कृतयुगवर्णनम् तथा राजधर्मोपदेशः

सततं धावमानश्ष् चिन्तयानो विशाम्पते । (भ्रमंस्तत्र महीपाल यदा वर्षगणान् बहून् ।) आसादयामि नैवान्तं तस्य राजन् महात्मन:,युधिष्ठिर! मैं निरन्तर दौड़ लगाता और चिन्तामें पड़ा रहता था। महाराज! जब बहुत वर्षोतक भ्रमण करनेपर भी उस महात्माके शरीरका अन्त नहीं मिला, तब मैंने मन, वाणी और क्रियाद्वारा उन वरदायक एवं वरेण्य देवताकी ही विधिपूर्वक शरण ली
satatam dhāvamānaś cintayāno viśāmpate | bhramaṁs tatra mahīpāla yadā varṣagaṇān bahūn | āsādayāmi naivāntaṁ tasya rājan mahātmanaḥ |
Vaiśampāyana dijo: «Corriendo sin cesar y consumido por la ansiedad, oh señor de los pueblos, vagué allí durante muchos años, oh rey. Pero no pude hallar el fin (el límite último) de aquel magnánimo. Entonces, oh rey, tomé refugio—debidamente y con plena observancia—en aquella deidad, dadora de dones y la más venerable, con mente, palabra y obra.»
