Sarasvatī–Tārkṣya Saṃvāda: Agnihotra-vidhi, Dāna-phala, and Mokṣa-prasaṅga (सरस्वती–तार्क्ष्यसंवादः)
बहुवत्सरजीवी च मार्कण्डेयो महातपा: । स्वाध्यायतपसा युक्तः क्षिप्रं युष्मान् समेष्यति,एक शुभ समाचार और है, चिरंजीवी महातपस्वी मार्कण्डेय मुनि, जो स्वाध्याय और तपस्यामें संलग्न रहा करते हैं, शीघ्र ही आपलोगोंसे मिलेंगे
bahuvatsarajīvī ca mārkaṇḍeyo mahātapāḥ | svādhyāyatapasā yuktaḥ kṣipraṃ yuṣmān sameṣyati ||
Vaiśaṃpāyana dijo: «Y hay otra buena nueva: el longevo sabio Mārkaṇḍeya, gran asceta—siempre entregado al estudio sagrado y a la austeridad—vendrá pronto a encontraros.»
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse upholds svādhyāya (sacred study) and tapas (austerity) as defining virtues of a true sage, suggesting that disciplined learning and self-restraint generate spiritual authority and become a source of guidance and hope for others.
Vaiśaṃpāyana announces auspicious news that the renowned, long-lived ascetic Mārkaṇḍeya—known for his devotion to study and austerity—will soon arrive to meet the listeners (contextually, the Pāṇḍavas), preparing the scene for counsel and sacred narration.
