Indra’s Meeting with the Pāṇḍavas
The verse stresses restraint under dharma: actions that constitute hostility toward rightful authority (rājadviṣṭa/rajadroha) are condemned, and wrongdoing is even graver when it violates the divine moral order as well. Ethical conduct is measured not only by personal strength or intent but by alignment with both royal and cosmic norms.
Yudhiṣṭhira addresses Bhīma in a reproachful tone, judging that Bhīma has performed an act considered treasonous or offensive to the king, and further characterizes it as an offense against the gods. The moment highlights Yudhiṣṭhira’s role as moral arbiter and Bhīma’s tendency toward forceful action that can cross ethical boundaries.
