Kubera’s Fivefold Nīti and Protection of the Pāṇḍavas (वैश्रवणोपदेशः)
ततो युधिष्ठटिरो भीममाहेदं प्रीतिमद् वच: । अहो श्रीमदिदं भीम गन्धमादनकाननम्,तदनन्तर युधिष्छिरने भीमसेनसे प्रसन्नतापूर्ण यह बात कही--“भीम! यह गन्धमादन- कानन कितना सुन्दर और कैसा अद्भुत है?
tato yudhiṣṭhiro bhīmam āhedaṃ prītimad vacaḥ | aho śrīmad idaṃ bhīma gandhamādanakānanam ||
Dijo Vaiśaṃpāyana: Entonces Yudhiṣṭhira habló a Bhīma con estas palabras afectuosas: “¡Ah, Bhīma—qué espléndido es este bosque de Gandhamādana!” En este instante, la suave admiración de Yudhiṣṭhira refleja un temple dhármico: aun en la adversidad, reconoce la belleza, habla con bondad y aquieta la mente mediante una palabra no dañina.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights dharmic speech and mental discipline: Yudhiṣṭhira responds to circumstances with appreciative, gentle words, cultivating steadiness and goodwill rather than complaint or agitation.
In the forest-exile setting, Yudhiṣṭhira, pleased and struck by the beauty of the place, addresses Bhīma with affectionate admiration, praising the splendor of the Gandhamādana woodland.
