Kubera’s Fivefold Nīti and Protection of the Pāṇḍavas (वैश्रवणोपदेशः)

सरांसि च मनोज्ञानि वृक्षांश्रवातिमनोरमान्‌ । विविशु: पाण्डवा: सर्वे विस्मयोत्फुल्ललोचना:,इस प्रकार वे वीर पाण्डव चारों ओर सुगन्धित पुष्पमालाएँ, सरस फल, मनोहर सरोवर और मनोरम वृक्षावलियोंको क्रमश: देखते हुए गन्धमादन पर्वतके वनमें प्रविष्ट हुए। वहाँ पहुँचनेपर उन सबकी आँखें आश्वर्यसे खिल उठीं

sarāṁsi ca manojñāni vṛkṣāṁś ca ati-manoramān | viviśuḥ pāṇḍavāḥ sarve vismayotphulla-locanāḥ ||

Dijo Vaiśaṃpāyana: Todos los Pāṇḍava entraron en aquella región, contemplando lagos deleitosos y árboles de encanto extraordinario. Sus ojos se abrieron de par en par, llenos de asombro, al internarse en el bosque de Gandhamādana—recogiendo, paso a paso, las guirnaldas fragantes de flores, los frutos jugosos y sabrosos, los estanques hermosos y las arboledas hechizantes. La escena anuncia una pausa en la adversidad: la abundancia de la naturaleza se vuelve un silencioso contrapunto moral al destierro, sosteniendo la determinación sin caer en la indulgencia.
