Educational Q&A

The verse highlights disciplined conduct under hardship: self-restraint (niyata-ātman) and moderation in food (mitāhāra) are presented as ethical supports for a difficult journey undertaken for a righteous purpose—reuniting with Arjuna.

Yudhiṣṭhira declares that the group will enter the Gandhamādana mountain region, maintaining austerity and control, because they are eager to see Arjuna (Dhanañjaya).
