भरद्वाजपुत्रवधः

The Slaying of Bharadvāja’s Son and the Sage’s Lament

भरद्वाज उवाच ब्राह्मणानां किलार्थाय ननु त्वं तप्तवांस्तप: | द्विजानामनथधीता वै वेदा: सम्प्रतिभान्त्विति,भरद्वाजने कहा--बेटा! तुमने ब्राह्मणोंके हितके लिये भारी तपस्या की थी। तुम्हारी तपस्याका यह उद्देश्य था कि द्विजोंको बिना पढ़े ही सब वेदोंका ज्ञान हो जाय

Translation

Dijo Bharadvāja: “¡Hijo mío! Por el bien de los brāhmaṇa practicaste una áspera austeridad (tapas). El propósito de tu penitencia era que los dvija alcanzaran el conocimiento de todos los Veda sin necesidad de estudiarlos.”
